With its tales of vampires who walk among us, HBO's "True Blood" series blurs the lines of reality and fantasy. Now the Time Warner cable network's ad campaign for the series is trying to do the same. HBO enlisted eight major marketers, including Marc Ecko, to create vampire-themed campaigns in major newspapers and magazines, on billboards and across the Web.
The Mini car brand touts a blood-red convertible with the tagline "Feel the wind in your fangs" while Geico claims it can save vampires 15% on auto insurance. Monster.com offers "thousands of night shifts," and a new fragrance from Marc Ecko promises to "attract a human," accompanied by a titillating shot of a vamp about to snack on a model. These ads function on the premise that the audiences for these popular goods are vampires.
And, these ads may have created a new community of fhuman fans for the program. While the first episode of "True Blood" snared about 1.44 million viewers in its first telecast, the audience built steadily during the show's first season, according to Nielsen. By the first run of the season finale, the audience had increased to more than 2.44 million. On average, the first season of "True Blood" attracted about 2.02 million live and same-day viewers for first-run episodes, according to Nielsen.

May 26, 2009 Rutgers' most famous dropout, fashion designer and graffiti art advocate Marc Ecko, is now a doctor, after receiving an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from university President Richard L. McCormick during the 243rd ceremony at Rutgers University. Renowned fashion designer Marc Ecko who launched a clothing line from his apartment while a Rutgers student also delivered the keynote address. He urged the crowd to avoid fashionable cynicism and embrace change even when it seems naive.
Ecko, who attended his father's alma mater, the Rutgers College of Pharmacy, before leaving in 1993 to pursue his career in art and fashion, congratulated the graduates for "doing something I have never done — you are graduating."
His wife, Allison, whom he met while at Rutgers, also dropped out of college at the same time Ecko did to launch the clothing line, just 12 credits shy of graduating. When she heard he would be getting an honorary degree this year, she re-enrolled at Douglass College, completed her requirements and received her diploma during the Douglass convocation. Check out the Rutger's line Marc created to pay homage to his alma mater right here.

April 15, 2009 Marc Ecko is nominated! With nearly 70 categories, website entries make up the majority of Webby Awards Winners, Nominees and Honorees. Some are well-executed and interesting to interact with. Others are honored for their functionality, but a handful display all of these attributes. To be selected among the best is an amazing achievement worthy of some bragging rites. Thanks to the creative efforts of Mike Golden, Geno Betancourt, Peter Ruprecht, Alan Fields and the whole Marc Ecko team, the www.marcecko.com site is a finalist in the Fashion category as well as the Personal Website and Celebrity/Fan categories! The site is eligible to win based on the official jury’s judging, but there is also a "People’s Choice" winner in each category that is based on the public’s votes. Each person can only vote once, so get voting!
